District 19 has 5 new positive cases of COVID for a total of 7 reported for the 2021-2022 school year. The people that need to know have already been contacted. Therefore, if no one has spoken to you personally, this doesn't affect you, and there is no need for concern. All steps and protocols have been taken and are being followed. We wanted to remind you that we aim to remain transparent and informative through this process. We appreciate your continued flexibility during this time. Please be vigilant in understanding the procedure for determining when our school community must be informed of a positive COVID case. We will only notify those individuals who are considered close contacts to a positive case. It is critical that we not disclose positive cases to anyone other than those being directly impacted or at risk. If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out. Please be aware that individuals may be eligible for modified quarantine periods based on location, exposure times, and risk assessment. To participate in shortened quarantine, close contacts must provide appropriate negative test results prior to being permitted for in-classroom participation only. Under these circumstances, close contacts to a positive case will NOT be eligible to ride the bus or participate in any extra-curricular activities or sporting events for the full 14 days. No lunchroom exposures will be allowed to follow a modified quarantine. Although we are unable to disclose specific information regarding cases and periods of isolation and quarantine, please know that many factors must be reviewed prior to making any exclusions from school. Vaccination status, assessment of high-risk verses lower risk exposures, ability to isolate, family dynamics, and modified quarantine option eligibility are many of the considerations that are carefully reviewed with each positive case. Each positive case has a different circumstance that must be evaluated using CDC, IDPH, ISBE, and local health department guidance. We hear and understand your frustrations our goal is to keep our kids in school, and we apologize for the inconvenience this may cause you or your family as well as the interruption in your child’s school year.

GEORGE WILLIAMS COLLEGE REPRESENTATIVE VISITS AHHS 8/31/2021: AHHS students were able to meet with the George Williams College representative. The function of these visits is multifaceted. In part, the visits serve to spread interest in their schools by educating students about the many programs and activities available there. In addition, the visits serve as an initial point of contact between students and colleges, allowing students to express their interest in a school and to establish a contact at the school itself. If you are interested in a college that is visiting your high school, meeting with the college rep is highly advisable. This will allow you the chance to meet face-to-face with the rep and ask specific questions while also providing you the chance to let the college know that you’re interested in attending. It’s also an opportunity to make contact with a person who may be evaluating your application in the future, since in many cases, the reps who visit are actually admissions officers from the college. Sometimes, you might even be able to get an early read on your transcripts, test scores, and course selections to help assess your fit at a particular college and to help figure out what you can do during the remaining months to improve your chances of getting in. NEXT COLLEGE REP VISITS: SEPT. 3-MCC SEPT. 9-VERTO EDUCATION SEPT. 14-WESTERN IL
