Alden-Hebron School District 19 is pleased to announce that Eric Slocum will be Alden-Hebron Elementary School's new principal.
Mr. Slocum is finishing his Educational Leadership Program from Western Illinois University. Prior to obtaining his Educational Leadership degree, he earned a Master's Degree in Special Education and a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from Western Illinois University.
Over the past 13 years Eric has served as a special education and general education teacher at Clinton Middle School, in Clinton Iowa where he taught 6th grade social studies and 8th grade special education science and math. Eric actively works as Clinton's Professional Learning Community and grade level team leader where he facilitates staff and leadership team meetings as well as coordinates academic and social support for nearly 130 students. He is recognized as a leader in the Capturing Kids Hearts program that Clinton Middle School implemented in 2018. In addition, Mr. Slocum Annually lead and coordinated Clinton Middle Schools Charity events which in 2018-2019 had their school ranked #1 in the state of Iowa for donations.
District 19 put together a committee of staff, board members and parents who took part in the principal selection process. Eric Slocum was one of 29 candidates who applied for the position and made it through the interview process that included two interviews as well as a principal entry plan presentation to the committee.
I am excited that Mr. Eric Slocum will be the new leader for Alden-Hebron Elementary School. On behalf of the committee and myself, we confidently believe that Eric's talent, student centered approach, and experience will guide students, staff, and community to a fun, safe, and motivating learning environment while having a positive impact on district 19 as a whole. We are excited to have him join our administration team and are beyond excited for what the future brings!
